People don’t want the whole album anymore
People NEVER WANTED THE WHOLE GALLON OF BRACKISH, LUKEWARM DOUCHEWATER YOU CALL AN ALBUM, but today when they decide to buy into your polished shitcake of an overhyped trend, (unlike 10 years ago), they’re precisely / implicitly voicing their disdain for dumpster-scum filler tracks untouched by the shrewd, expensive engineer & producer that blessed exactly 1 out of 10 tracks, by purchasing only the HOT SINGLE talented names DID work on. You BLAME them?
And when 2 fucking million of us fans send you 99¢, because it is easier, faster, and more convenient than EVER IN THE HISTORY OF COMMERCIAL MUSIC to legally obtain and own and enjoy a decent-sounding copy of our favorite tune everywhere we go, without being UPSOLD a raft of seborrheic dog scrota filler tracks, YOU flip the hell out as if there’s no money anywhere!
They want a $0.99 download of the hottest single on the album. There’s no doubt that $0.99 versus $18.99 hurts everyone involved.
THE. FUCK!!??? 1. Are you blaming / deriding the ever patient music-buying public for fomenting “industry” problems in this lament? 2. How the hell did we establish this as a dichotomy / zero sum thing? and 3. How the hell is, e.g, the MUSIC FAN “hurt” by having a choice of 15 million songs a flick away on their handheld? Oh, what? The people actually deigning to fork over money when they could just steal it, ignore it, or get it from a friend aren’t “INVOLVED”!? THEY’RE THE ONLY ONES WHO EVEN FUCKING MATTER AND YOU CAN’T EVEN DETECT THEIR PRESENCE IN THIS RELATIONSHIP! That might be a problem.
Alas, it’s time to adapt.
By “Alas” I’m sure you mean, “Yay.” Here’s a suggestion. How about making a bunch more songs that are lavished with the same care, passion and creative effort as the GODDAMN “HOT SINGLE” YOU’RE WHINGING ABOUT HAVING SOLD MILLIONS OF TO ADORING FANS!?
thank you so very, very much to every one of you hundreds probably thousands of sexy people that have chosen to buy a song i made for you. and thanks for not complaining when i can’t get everything done in time for a release date. and thanks for not losing interest in music with all this impertinent industry noise. i have nothing to complain about. i’ll just keep trying as hard as i can to make the best songs i know how, and keep trying to learn make even better ones. i’m way, way past psyched that there are so many crafty, respectful & respectable ways for you to find them, share them and maybe cherish them.
